Bricks
A static website theme
Conceived as a static website theme, Bricks can be used for any kind of website, really, as long as it's built on the 960 grid system.

The idea is to provide a ready-to-go website theme that works right out of the box. It requires either a basic knowledge of HMTL and CSS or access to a decent WYSIWYG editor like Kompozer if you haven't got the Adobe Creative Suite. You then replace the text and images, and possibly the colours, then publish your website. Or you can get me to do it, including making the changes and uploading and resizing the images to fit. Let's take a closer look at it.
All of the images, apart from the call-to-action button, are placeholders. The text is also placeholder, but the difference isn't just that it's not Lorem Ipsum. It gives you hints about what to put there. To make life easy, all the images are a maximum of 300px wide.
The header area is completely customisable with a ready-made logo if you haven't got one. Don't like it? Replace it with an image of your own. It's hard to tell from a screenshot but you see that text in Impact? Just change it. The image you're replacing is a background image. Same with the tagline text. I've got three blocks up there to put stuff in: it's considered best practice to put your contact details at the top of the page.
Here's the call-to-action button. Don't like the colour? Use an image editor to change it. Or you can replace or delete it. I've got a selection of these. The placeholder text in the screenshot is waiting for you to replace it with something like "Click here to find out more" or "Check out our special offer" or whatever. Since most of the images are in .png format I've added iepngfix to the theme. CSS PIE can also be added if you want rounded corners. They're available in the premium version, which also has a preconfigured slideshow.

In the footer there are four boxes for text. I've added the social media links; just add the URLs of where you want them to go. The premium version has Add This to encourage people to bookmark or share your content.
I've added an RSS feed reader widget from FeedWind to display news from BBC Magazine. This page shows most of the configurations of Bricks: one, two, three, and four columns stacked on top of each other. On the first page I've got one block that takes up two thirds of the page.

Custom versions can be made; just ask me and I'll do it, adding whatever JavaScript is required to add functionality. Want to do it yourself? It's built on the 960 grid system using twelve columns. If you know what I mean by that, have fun!
